With technology evolving by the second, it is very difficult to understand what's real and what's fake. Brands everywhere are using AI like it's a magic wand, waving it around expecting it to fix everything on their site (pun intended) and beyond. Although this is the current reality of the world, it's about time we talk about a separate type of reality: Augmented Reality.
AR has existed throughout the years, and if you are unaware of what it is, here's the short description: "AR is an interactive experience that overlays computer-generated digital content—such as images, 3D models, sounds, or text—onto the physical, real-world environment." To simplify it, if you have ever played Pokémon GO, you probably have used AR unknowingly. When I founded AR Bangladesh, I had one goal in mind: to pioneer Augmented Reality in the country and give its people access to never-before-seen creative technology. Since 2021, we have been delving into AR campaigns for brands, starting from immersive full-page press ads to mini-games playable on Facebook and Instagram. I have noticed a massive shift in the tech and the formats of AR experiences over the last five years, and I am about to guess (hopefully predict correctly) the future of AR.
The year is 2026, and AI has taken over the world (not like the Terminator). It's used everyday, in almost every industry, making the most impact in marketing. Teams rely heavily on the usage of AI, and although most people are worried it will snatch jobs, I believe it has made a lot of jobs easier. From generating impossible visuals to fact-checking your articles, it really has had a huge impact on the professional aspect. I strongly believe that it will also make a huge impact on the AR market globally. Here's why:
AI in AR campaigns
- Flawless Real-World Anchoring: AI-driven computer vision instantly maps surfaces and tracks faces, eliminating lag and keeping digital elements perfectly locked in place.
- Hyper-Personalized Experiences: AI analyzes user behavior and real-time context to instantly tailor AR content, assets, and recommendations to the individual user.
- Seamless Virtual Try-Ons: Advanced semantic segmentation distinguishes hair, skin, and backgrounds, creating hyper-realistic occlusions for flawless digital try-ons.
